Driving a Manual Transmission | Why Some Prefer It

Driving a manual transmission used to be a common skill. Today, automatic transmissions have become so efficient they make up most of the car market. Manual transmissions are becoming exclusive to the luxury and exotic car market. At DJ’s Auto Repair we take care of manual transmissions and other foreign car repair services.  Schedule an appointment for your vehicle here:

It is a preference.

Since automatic transmissions have improved so much over the years, they dominate the car market. It is getting more difficult to find manual transmissions. Because of this trend, it is safe to assume that those who drive a vehicle with a manual transmission do so because they love it and couldn’t imagine driving anything else. A manual transmission gives you more control of the vehicle.

We spend so much time in our cars, might as well enjoy it.

Being able to drive a manual transmission has become such an exclusive skill that manual transmissions are also known as the ultimate anti-theft technology.

There are reports of car thefts being cut short due to manual transmissions. The thief only makes it to the driver’s seat before they realized they have taken on more than they can handle.

The skill could be a lifesaver.

It doesn’t matter what kind of vehicle you drive on an everyday basis. Learning to drive a manual transmission is a good idea. You never know when you’ll be in a situation where that skill will come in handy. You may find yourself in an emergency situation where you need to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission. You could also become a last-minute designated driver and the original—now intoxicated—designated driver has a manual transmission.

You don’t get to be picky when it comes to your first vehicle.

Many drivers today learned how to drive on an old car from a relative or a less-than-desirable vehicle from a garage. The freedom of being in charge of your own transportation is worth dealing with those let’s-just-get-from-point-A-to-point-B type of vehicles.

Say you are desperate to be your own means of transportation, but the only vehicle available to you is a manual transmission. You’ll be thankful for the skill.
